Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly: your name, email address, and property/tenant data you enter into the Service. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google. We also collect usage data such as pages visited, features used, and device information through analytics tools.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to provide and maintain the Service, process subscription payments, send transactional emails (tenant invites, password resets), improve the Service, and communicate with you about updates or support. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles or sell to data brokers.

3. Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely in Supabase (hosted on AWS infrastructure) with row-level security policies ensuring users can only access their own data. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the Service: Supabase (database hosting), Stripe (payment processing), Resend (email delivery), Vercel (application hosting), and Google (authentication). These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.

5. Tenant data

When you add tenant information to RentalSlate, you are the data controller for that information. You are responsible for obtaining any necessary consent from your tenants and complying with applicable privacy laws regarding tenant data. When tenants create portal accounts, they can view their own data (lease, payments, maintenance requests) but cannot access other tenants' information or your financial records.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies for authentication (keeping you signed in). We use Google Analytics to understand how the Service is used. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser extension. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

7. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and property/tenant records within 30 days. Some data may be retained longer if required by law (e.g., financial records for tax compliance). Backup copies may persist for up to 90 days after deletion.

8. Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data (available in the Settings page), correct inaccurate data, export your data, and request deletion of your account and associated data. To exercise these rights, contact support@rentalslate.com.

9. Children's privacy

The Service is not intended for use by anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.

10. International users

The Service is hosted in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
